Disabled Friendly Holidays
Fuerteventura is a great place for all the family and welcomes everyone to its shores. There are lots of hotels and holiday villas that have been adapted and modernised to be able to offer great value as well as luxury disabled friendly holidays so that everyone can get out and about. But what about when you are out in resort? What are the facilities like for wheelchair users and their carers and family members?
Disabled Family Holidays in Fuerteventura
Going on holiday is something to look forward to, but sometimes, the travelling and organisation can be a bit stressful, especially when you have a big family in tow. Travelling with wheelchairs and other aids can also be a challenging and not knowing what to expect when you get to the resort, can also be a bit daunting. So we have come up with an idea to make it easier for anyone that is thinking of visiting Fuerteventura, but is a little unsure of what to expect.
Wheelchair Friendly Resorts
In recent years, there has been a lot of time and money invested into the holiday resorts in Fuerteventura in order to make the town centres more wheelchair friendly. Many of the pavements have been resurfaced to make the floor surface safer and guides for the visually impaired have been laid to indicate zebra crossings. Unnecessary street furniture has also been removed, so it is far easier to get about. Many kerbs have also been lowered and ramps have also been installed, to make getting around on wheels much easier too. These do vary from resort to resort, but in general, Fuerteventura is a great choice for everyone and has a lot to offer all the family.
Tried & Tested by Sophie
We understand that getting out and about is not as easy for some people as it is for others. So, to try and make things a little less complicated and to give you an idea of what you can expect, our resident writer Sophie has been out and about, looking at the disabled friendly places and assessing their facilities for you.
In our ‘Sophie’s Choice’ section of The Voice Fuerteventura Magazine, she has also been out visiting various attractions and testing out some excursions, so that you can get a feel as to just how accessible they are from both the users and the carers perspective. To find out what she thought of each, just click on the relevant links below:

Our aim is to compile a comprehensive list of places, bars, pubs, restaurants and attractions around the resorts, so that you can understand in advance, just how easy access to each place is and also what fun and facilities they offer for the users and the carers.
